other balloon ride websites
We have set up a companion balloon
ride weblog which has the lastest information about
what we are planning to do on the site, news and features.
You can post comments if you wish but please be sure to leave
your e-mail address.
Hot
Air Ballooning This is a good
content site with diverse articles, Q & A, details of
festivals, and directories of operators and clubs (mostly
in the USA) and a pilot shop. There is a great section on
ballloon sponsorhip - definitely have a look at this if you
are a balloon owner. As a bit of fun you can also send balloon
ride e-card with your own personalised message.
eBalloon.Org
This is another good content site,
notable for it's wonderful section on the history of balloon
flight. It's all here: the first transatlantic balloon flight
attempts of the 1950s, Abruzzo, Anderson and Newman finally
succeeding in 1978, Piccard and Jones circumnavigating 42,810
KM around the globe non-stop, non-refueled in 1999, and Steve
Fossett doing it all on his own in 2002 - after six failed
attempts! They also have a good picture gallery.
Balloons
Over Britain The website is great - see the bit on
how balloons work for a clear guide to the science of baskets,
burners and envelopes. This long established group of 14 balloon
ride operators has 40 balloons with nationwide reach. There
is a map to find one of their operators near you. The map
also has notes on what you will see as you fly over various
parts of the country.
Balloon
Federation of America (BFA)
This organisation represents the interests of 3,000 members
in promoting the sport of ballooning. This site is definitely
worth a look for the safety seminars you can download.
DMOZ
- open directory resource You'll
find loads more quality balloon ride sites listed in Dmoz
with a short note on each site. Just search for 'balloon ride'.
